The Role 

The Estée Lauder Companies offer an exciting opportunity as National Sales Manager with the responsibility of leading our field sales force in Norway. You will lead an organization of approximately 70 employees through two District Managers and a Salesforce Coordinator, who will assist you and report directly to you.  The Norwegian office is based centrally in Oslo, Nydalen. You will be reporting to the Nordic Commercial Director based in the Nordic head office in Copenhagen.  

Your high energy level and strong analytical skills enable you to analyze performance and quickly implement action plans, when and wherever needed. You collaborate with your National Sales Manager colleagues in Denmark, Sweden and Finland, as well as with the Nordic Education Manager and Brand Directors. You are visible and lead by example, and you thrive on spending time with your team and frequently visit them instore. You make sure to understand the drivers of our retail business and our competitors, and you utilize the KPIs of retail and coach your direct reports to do so, too.  

On top of your direct National Sales Manager job, you will also represent the Estée Lauder Companies in Norway in industry federations, in public matters, and towards our retail partners, and you thus pay special attention to embody our very high standards and ethics. 

To be successful in this role, you will: 

  • Achieve retail sales targets by channels, retailers, and brands.
  • Support, engage, and develop the team of District Managers and in-store staff in department stores and perfumeries. 
  • Build a strong and trustful network of retail partners and other industry stakeholders.   
  • Build a talent pool and secure constant succession planning.
  • Implement visual merchandising plans via your team according to guidelines.
  • Secure execution of our trade plans instore according to the overall retail plan.
  • Work closely with the Education team to ensure that the sales team meets our high requirements of product knowledge and customer service. 
  • Monitor costs closely and work to maximize efficiency.
  • Analyze store profitability and suggest actions for improvement.
  • Follow team performance as well as business and competitor movements. Build actions and execute immediately.
  • Lead the Norwegian office team, incl. indirect reports such as HR, Education and Online teams to ensure co-operation and engagement locally in Norway. 

Qualifications

Your Qualifications: 

  • Proven work experience as National Sales Manager, Head of field sales, Country Commercial Lead or similar
  • Strong retail skills – you know the retail KPIs and how to use them. Experience from within the Beauty industry is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Experience with managing a high-performance sales team in a global/international matrix organization. 
  • Master stakeholder management
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with the focus to develop and build retail sales and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to understand and analyze retail sales performance metrics.
  • Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Available to travel as needed (mainly inside Norway and to Copenhagen)
  • Understand and speak “Scandinavian” and English at a high level.
